Hi, you are right, the person API is currently "read only". We have this on our list for the 1.0 http://sumo.dlr.de/trac.wsgi/milestone/1.0.0, I would not bet on the release date though. I opened a ticket as well: http://sumo.dlr.de/trac.wsgi/ticket/2688
There is currently no way of achieving this functionality other than implementing the interface yourself. Every patch or contribution is welcome!
