Dear SUMO community, I am modelling the traffic in a small city (140 000 inhabitants) and decided to use activitygen. I made a bit of sensitivity analysis with the parameters in the stat.xml file and I noticed some particularities and wanted to discuss them with you.
1. Changes in the beginning or ending time of the schools do not influence the traffic demand. Moreover, I have several schools and nurseries in the network and I haven't observed heavier traffic around them. I describe the schools as follows: <school edge="-111495" pos="23.0" beginAge="12" endAge="18" capacity="500" opening="28800" closing="46800" /> Is the school scheme working? If it is, please advise how it is best to use it. 2. If 24 hours simulation is used, the number of trips per hour gradually increases in the evening (regardless the value of freeTimeActivityRate) and the highest value is always at 24 o'clock. Is there any way this can be reduced? 3. To distribute the traffic demand, I am specifying edges where residential or industrial areas are located. The network is flooded by vehicles that seem to have the same trip. I haven't succeeded in making the traffic a bit more evenly distributed. If I increase the parameter uniformRandomTraffic, it seems it adds more trips to the existing ones. I have tried selecting multiple nearby roads, just to distribute the traffic a bit more evenly, but it doesn't do any good. Any suggestions how it can be made more realistic are most welcome. I appreciate any help you can provide on these questions!
