To Malcolm Purves and all list members, My apologies if I misinformed when I repeated that theory of French vs English translation as explanation for why UTC, not CUT. The version I offered was as told to me some years ago by a Canadian physicist acquaintance. It never occurred to me that a citizen of that officially bilingual country might be mistaken upon such a matter. < :- !)
