Bob,

As always, it was a pleasure to see you, and the progress of your work in
digital dialling. Also as alway, the trip home is filled with thoughts
(daydreams?) of the dials that could be build. For what its worth, the one
thought that I had in connection with your vertical digital design is:

The creation of a large block of two sheets of metal with the appropriate
slits in it. The first sheet of metal would be coverted completely (except for
the slits) in clock and watch parts and images. The second plate would be
covered in computer images and parts. Of course, the artistic nature of the
coverings would make or break the effect of the entire design. The thought
behind the installation would be some like:

"The transformation of telling time. From the direct reading of the sun,
through (pun intendented) the use of clocks, and eventually the computer, to
interpret the reading of time. And it transformation once again by the
technology of this sculpture, back into the direct telling of time by the sun."
