Wilde wrote many "useless" (and clever and wonderful) words - but then
they are art.

Seriously, this is the difference between art and "craft", isn't it? One
is functional and the other useless.

So, don't worry about the "useless" or non-functioning sundial - regard
it as art and admire it!
