you will want to know about the astrolabes sold by Janus. the fellow who owns the company also sells a nice computer astrolabe program. the manuals that accompany the astrolabes and software are nice introductions to astrolabes and their principles. in addition, he has translated Michel's astrolabe book into English (though it remains unpublished) and will sell you a copy if he has any left. (this may be useful even if you read French as i think Michel's book is no longer in print.) you can send email to Janus at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or telephone to 203-746-0815. the postal address is Janus/9 Bigelow Rd./New Fairfield CT/USA -jim lattis -- Jim Lattis [EMAIL PROTECTED] "What's so amazing that Space Astronomy Lab voice: 608-263-0360 keeps us stargazing, and U. of Wisconsin-Madison fax: 608-263-0361 what do we think we might http://www.sal.wisc.edu/~lattis see?" -Kermit t.
