Hi John,

There was a typo in the url. Try this
http://www3.telus.net/public/ormerod/NASSVanRTB/Timelines.ppt
It is also on the CD distributed at the conference.

Since the intellectual property/copyright issue has exploded, I would like
to back off on blanket permission for unrestricted use of this file. Anyone
can download, view and enjoy the presentation but no one can copy the
presentation or contained images without my specific permission. It remains
my creative work, my exclusive property. As Bill T pointed out, this is the
essence of copyright law. It does not need to be explicitly stated. It is an
inherent right. Yes, I was just a tourist passing through who snapped some
pictures of public sundials. But the images are still mine and the creator
of the original artwork, or the current owner may also still rights. For
example, I would not show pictures of your dials without at least
attributing them to you. I am writing a summary of the NASS conference in
Vancouver and have clipped a few pictures from your presentation to be part
of the summary. The attribution is direct but legally I may require your
permission to use your images. Well Ok, this would fit within the
"acceptable use" criteria that Bill T. mentioned but it is still an area of
concern in our society with a strong sense of property values, including
intellectual property. The internet and the easy of electronic copying makes
the problem worse but it does not change the concept. We own what we create.

Regards,
Roger Bailey

Hi Roger:

I get an error message at "Timelines.ppt" at
http://www3.telus.net/public/ormerod/NASSVanRTB/Timelies.ppt

Might be a server problem.

Can you email me the PDF if you have it?

Also, If you have any more good photos of PWS that we don't have will you be
sending them?

Thanks

John
