Thanks for the link to the photo, Roger. What struck me about the dial was the disparity between the precise, very modern looking gnomons, and the almost crude shaping and smoothing of the stone body. Artistically, I think the contrast is elegant, and the delineation appears to have been carefully done to match the actual surfaces...
