I have been asked for an opinion on the item illustrated here, and would appreciate any comments. Could it be a Roman hand-held sundial? It is made of lead, and is 2 to 3 mm thick. It is said to have been found some years ago in Lincolnshire, UK, on the site of a Roman military camp. Better pictures on request.
