Hi Brent,

Let me start by saying that many of us believe that the wonderful movements of 
the earth, causing apparent movement of the 
sun in the sky is the true time, not that sterile, artificial time invented by 
politicians and overcontrolling scientists.

But, to answer your important question, if your only measurements are the 
altitude and azimuth of the apparent sun's position, 
then No, the sun's position is not unique.  You might look at a chart of 
declination to see that different days pass through the 
same numbers.

Keep thinking though, I, for one believe there is much still to be discovered 
and enjoyed in this area.
