I think you will find a tiny snag or two in this approach! You would need very long arms to draw the horizon line on the horizontal dial :-) The big show-stopper is that the times of sunrise and sunset at 38 deg South are not the same as at 52 deg North. Ah! I may be wrong. It depends how you define the times of sunrise and sunset :-) Back to the drawing board!
