Preliminary Circular The Eighth International Conference on Oriental Astronomy (ICOA-8) March 26 (Wed)-28(Fri), 2014 University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China Major Theme: Astronomical Heritages in Asia-Pacific Areas ICOA-8 will concentrate on astronomical heritages in Asia-Pacific Areas, including heritages both tangible and intangible, from remote past to the mid 20th century. Papers on recognition, analysis, conservation, restoration, reconstruction and exhibition of these heritages are welcome. The papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Venues: University of Science and Technology of China/Anhui Provincial Museum, Hefei, China After Conference Events: Weekend Field Tour to the Wan’an Town in the Yellow Mountain area, a center for the manufacture of traditional Chinese compasses and sundials since at least the 16th century, where the workshops are still alive.
