Your instructions are similar to what I did, but you've done a much better job documenting it than I would. And your scripts are very useful... thanks for this. :)


I'm trying to figure out how to get gdm 2.6.0 working.  It would
appear that the included GDM is only modified with a bunch of scripts,
and there is nothing special with the binary itself.

I gave up on gdm and modified the xmgr-stuff to use wdm (which we are running at the university on all our linux-clients, so no differences for our users).


The gdm that Sun supplies works fine, except for the fact that GNOME 2.6 can't talk to it whenever you try to log out (killing gnome-session resolves that). I'll try out your wdm stuff though, as it will be a cleaner solution.
