The Kinesis website says that when their PS/2-to-USB adapter is
used this keyboard is supported on Sun Blade workstations. If
you have a Sun Blade lying around then it'd be worth trying
the trackpad with your adapter plugged into the Blade. If it
works on Sun Blade then that implies that your adapter presents
the PS/2 pad as a USB mouse, in which case it should work on
Sun Ray too. Perhaps the Kinesis adapter does something
different than your generic one does, at least for the trackpad.

The Kinesis site also says that the pads are built by Cirque,
and the Cirque site hints that the USB version of the pad
identifies itself as a USB mouse (technically a USB HID Pointer
device) so the second (native-USB) pad should also work on Sun
Ray because Sun Ray claims to support USB 1.1 HID Pointer devices
in Boot Mode.

If Cirque say that that's how their pads present themselves
then it should be fairly straightforward for someone at Sun to
either get the native pad working or at least figure out what's
going wrong.

I haven't heard of anyone trying to use these trackpads with
Sun Ray, you may be the first.

Sun would first need to know whether these trackpads present
themselves as USB HID Pointer Boot Mode devices. If they do
then if we can play with one in the lab it should be fairly
easy to figure out what's broken. If the Sun Ray firmware is
misbehaving then we'd fix it. If the pad is misbehaving then
we can report it the vendor but beyond that there's not much
we can do.

Getting one to play with might be tricky. Maybe we could get
an eval unit from Kinesis, or maybe you could let us borrow
yours.
