what version of srss are you running? what operating system? what LDAP
server?

For solaris see Sun Blueprints "Solaris and LDAP Naming Services" book
(http://www.sun.com/books/catalog/bialaski.xml) and
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/content/n2l/

For linux, you just have to install the libnss-ldap package (look for a
similar name in your linux distribution) and configure NSS.

The SRSS 3.0 software always uses getent for gathering informations
about users, so it will work for local users, NIS users, LDAP, PAM.

Bye,
Giuseppe
