Just made a funny discovery: Running rdesktop from the Sunray session against a Windows Server in the same physical location as my Sunray server actually gives better performance in the rdesktop window than for the native apps (!!) Running firefox and scrolling a large page is much faster on the rdesktop than on the native machine..

Both ports are 100mbit, but I'm home on a 2,3Mbit SDSL link, connecting to my 100Mbit Internet-connection/100Mbit switch at the office. The performance is "OK", it's just a tad poorer than the RDP connection.

Is the X11/Sun Ray system as fast as RDP? :)

Edvin,

Btw: I think the screenupdate performance was a bit sluggish compared to running Windows Terminal Service client on my windows machine. Is this due to the Sunray's framebuffer being old/slow, or is it the protocol's "fault"? Will the Sunray 1g be any faster?

Are you having the problem from the message thread "[SunRay-Users] redraw and latency" that happens when the server is connected to a 1gb switch port and the Sun Rays to 100mb as the protocol uses UDP and some switches are not queuing these properly.

I got a big speed improvement when I moved the server to a 100mb port.
