What applications are being accessed?

Make sure you don't share the same app server. If SRSS has already been installed and that server's used by the competition, the HP's can use SRSS's dhcp service - if HP have to set up dhcp, it's an extra task and the customer will notice the extra work needed.

Ensure you make smartcards part of the PoC.

Make the time it takes to deloy a solution something to be measured as part of the PoC.

Make managing clients part of the PoC - firmware and app updates, for example.

Some ideas to get you going...

Thanks guys...
I finally can ensure my customer to have sun ray
without having fighting with HP in POC. I just come
out with those benefit (no os, ROI, stuff like
that), especially with sunray 170, they really have
nice look (even only seen in the brochure hehe).
But still, dont know how to turn out HP thin client in
beauty contest (POC)

anyway, thanks a lot guys

Hi

The nice thing about SunRays is that SUN treat them
as peripherals of
the server.
So as long as you have a support contract for you
server the SunRays are
supported.
We bought SunRay 100s when they first came out and
used them with and
E250. We are now
running with a V210 and will probably replace that
with a new server in
a year or two.
I am not sure I would like to run Java Desktop on
the Ultra 5s we bought
at the same
time as the E250. They are now used as zone based
web servers.

As an aside we do seen to get quite a few of the 100
fail with a solid
orange light
on the front. Is this peculiar to the 100 or do ther
Sunrays have a
simila propblem.

Solaris 10 is the most robust OS around and the

Thanks Ralf, Jeff and also Christ. Its very good

But this is sales stuff, do you know how can

kick Hp

thin client @$$ in real life? like to beat HP

within

POC. Iam going to use solaris 10 and srss 3.1.

But

HP will come in with their Linux and dont know

with

their management sw? any idea would be very
appreciate

Thanks a lot guys

Big difference between SunRay - DISPLAY over IP

and
the HP "thin client" solution.
SunRay's do not have a local OS running and are
really
considered a Display device, like your TV, a

true

thin
client. HP thin clients still require some sort

of

OS
on the HP box. If you use Windows XP e?? not

sure of

the correct version, but you still have to deal

with

virus and patch problems.
SunRay's connect to a direct dedicated

interconnect

or
private network, a shared interconnect or remote
networks. very easy to setup and manage, even

with

failover and load balancing configuration. Both

will

use Citrix inorder to access MS resources.
SunRay SRSS 3.1 has greatly improved from his

older

versions. We are currently running several test
pilots and users like the hardware (5y/w).

Display

is
nicer and the speed has improved as well

(booting

and
display). I only can highly recommend SUN's

solution

and I'm sure that this technology will be a big

part

of high speed data networks in the very near
future...

Guys,

Anyone knows about competition sunray with HP

thin

bought

can
use Linux right? but what about their sw

management?

Sunray have Srss but as i know, hp use

altiris,

which
only can run on windows.

Thanks in advance
