Hi,

here at Lule University we have some hundreds of Sunrays, running against both Solaris and Linux servers. I have just encountered an odd problem though; on a newly setup sunray server (RHEL4) the login screen locks (usually with three ... in the username window). It is gdm-binary for that session that is stuck in a futex call, ps axl says 322565 on wchan. kill -9 on the hanging process causes the login screen to be
restarted and everything is up and running again.

For me this smells as a locking problem, but it is difficult to know without source code.

The sunray server is running under Vmware on a quad-core dual-cpu system (Dell 1950), we have other sunray server installations like this but on old hardware (and not vmware)
which works without problem.

Has anyone seen this before? Or do someone have any tips on how to avoid this problem? Right now I have a script that checks for gdm-binary waiting at 322565 each 10 second, but
it do not feel like the correct solution...
