Hi,

we have two Sun Ray servers under Debian Sarge (no FOG) - SRS installed and configured essentially in the same way - same hardware beside number of harddisks.

On one server the Sun Ray software is running rock-solid - no problems whatsoever. However, on the other server, the Sun Ray service hangs 1-2 times a week. We can revoke the Sun Ray sessions by using the command "/etc/init.d/utsvc restart". Nevertheless this is somewhat annoying.

The only difference between the two servers is that the one having the problems provides additional services (LDAP, DHCP, Samba, NFS, CUPS).

Occationally, a hs_err_pid logfile is generated after/while the Sun Ray service hangs:

$ head -18 /hs_err_pid20119.log

Unexpected Signal : 11 occurred at PC=0xB7C2A3AD
Function=(null)
Library=/etc/opt/SUNWut/jre/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so

NOTE: We are unable to locate the function name symbol for the error
     just occurred. Please refer to release documentation for possible
     reason and solutions.

 on the other server.

Any hints on what might cause the problems would be appreciated very much.

Yours,
Guido
