the tftpboot directory doesn't get automatically updated when adding the
patch.

Please see the patch README!

You will need to us utfwadm to populate the tftpboot directory.

The exact syntax might varry...

utfwadm -A -a -N -all

is probably close. If you are using .parms, you will need to add -V and
-I options.
