Hi
Had lodsa fun (Not) trying to fix an issue with the Adobe Reader
issue I posted about on 4th Dec.
After ripping out and re installing a fresh copy Firefox, checking the CDE
Environment settings and a good look round the whole system I decided to
upgrade Adobe Reader to version 8. BIG Mistake :(
You need GTK 2.6 minimum, Solaris 10 comes with 2.4.9 so I followed the
instructions at:
http://blogs.adobe.com/acroread/2007/09/adobe_reader_811_faqs.html
I tested this on my X86 based Test Bench and it worked fine.........
However on the live system:
JDS Crashed soon after the GTK install. I couldn't log in to JDS at all.
Firefox Core Dumped and I had 20 sunrays cycling putting the load average up
to 60 (not bad for a lil v210)
- Thankfully CDE still worked
I ended up rebuilding Firefox with the version from balstwave, added in the
plugins for Flash, Adobe Reader, Java and all the other usual kiosk tweaks
and the Kiosk software ( http://www.mozdevgroup.com ). All is apparently well
now, no idea if I have actually fixed the initial problem yet.....
If any of you have any idea what went wrong here I'd be interested to get
back to the original configuration (it'll save me a complete rebuild of the
server).
Thanks
