I'd like to request that you *not* use SUNW as a
prefix for your package names. The point of
the SUNW prefix is to reserve a namespace to
avoid collisions. If Sun wanted to release a
package named SUNWutselector in the future
we'd not want to inadvertently collide with a name
already in use. Even within Sun we use a process
to reserve namespaces within the SUNW namespace
(e.g. SUNWut) to avoid naming collisions between
groups.
Please avoid using SUNW prefixes for package names,
in order to avoid potential future conflicts.
A similar rule of thumb should apply to filesystem
namespaces - e.g. never put content of your own within
/opt/SUNWut (within Sun the package namespace
registration process applies to the filesystem as well) to
avoid Sun packages inadvertently overwriting or
removing your content.
I hope this request doesn't seem like too onerous. I
applaud your contribution to the Sun Ray community!

i think SUNWutselector is ok as base name and the extended name
SUNWutselector-<subname> will be nice as it will be more informative.
regarding the "SUNW" part i think it is ok to keep it as it is also
used for the remote control toolkit.
i personally use the FLB prefix (from "filibeto") when i create
packages, but this is just my personal choice ;)

your "commit access" account is ready - the user and password are set
as per the "How to get commit access" section on the subversion page
on the wiki (http://wiki.sun-rays.org/index.php/Subversion). please
let me know if you experience any problems using the account.
Is there a simple way to import a CVS project (at our site)
to SVN (at your site)? Will $Id:$ tags break in the process?
you can try using the cvs2svn python script
(http://cvs2svn.tigris.org/). one of the features mentions "No
information lost" :)
if your CVS repository has multiple projects you can use the options
file method (http://cvs2svn.tigris.org/faq.html#onetoone)to export
only the SUNWutselector project. you also need to use the
"--dumpfile=<dumpfile>" output option to produce an svn dump file.
having the dump file i can try to importi it to the current repository.
if anyone else with more experience on this can suggest a better way
to do this - please post to this thread.
Or should I simply commit my files and start the numbering
from point zero?
it is up to you - if you think the CVS export will be too much of a
hassle...
note that subversion tends to use repository-global revision numbers,
and as i try to stick to the "single repository/multiple projects"
model you may note that the youngest revision number for the
repository keeps changing because of other project(s) adding revision.
