Hi All, I've searched this maillist, but I don't see anyone else with the problems that I'm experiencing. After my users are using and happy with USB mounting, I am now getting USB drive mounting problems.
I have three sunray servers in a failover group running RHEL4, SSRS 4, and everything was working well, including USB mounting of flash drives. Over the last month, flash drive mounting has been failing slowly, and in an unpredictable manner. As account 1 on DTU1, mounting worked for three weeks, then failed (note I always observer proper unmounting protocols). While troubleshooting, I logged into DTU 2 as account 2 and mounting worked properly. Also, DTU2 account 1 worked as well! But account 2, DTU 1 did not. So I thought it must be a DTU problem. On the next day I went to investigate further, and now neither account 1 or 2 can mount USB drive on DTU 1 or 2. I was seeing activity in the /var/opt/SUNWut/log/utstoraged.log, but now I see no change. When I plug or unplug the drive, and utdiskadm -l returns no record: Device Partition Mount Path ------ --------- ---------- Processes running include: ps -ef | egrep 'utmount|utds|utstorage' root 4978 1 0 Feb02 ? 00:00:00 /opt/SUNWut/srds/lib/utdsd -p 7012 root 23461 1 0 08:19 ? 00:00:00 /opt/SUNWut/lib/utmountd root 23462 1 0 08:19 ? 00:00:00 /bin/ksh -p /opt/SUNWut/lib/utlog -o /var/opt/SUNWut/log/utmountd.log root 23463 1 0 08:19 ? 00:00:00 /opt/SUNWut/lib/utstoraged -r root 23464 1 0 08:19 ? 00:00:00 /bin/ksh -p /opt/SUNWut/lib/utlog -o /var/opt/SUNWut/log/utstoraged.log root 23467 23463 0 08:19 ? 00:00:00 /opt/SUNWut/lib/utstoraged -r Log file, after plugging, unplugging flash drive: tail -f /var/opt/SUNWut/log/utstoraged.log 2008.02.04 08:19:36.898589 MST Storage Service is starting 2008.02.04 08:19:36.899504 MST Storage Service Ready An earlier log file, while it was still logging something: 2008.01.06 10:11:43.380892 MST Storage Service is starting 2008.01.06 10:11:43.382098 MST Storage Service Ready 2008.01.06 10:13:44.186260 MST servicing /tmp/SUNWut/units/IEEE802.00144f7dd1e3/devices/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/Prolific_Technology_Inc.USB_Mass_Storage_Device, lun=0, ctlmin=1, uid=42, xid=16 2008.01.06 10:13:45.301637 MST service END lun=0, ctlmin=1, uid=42, xid=16 2008.01.06 10:13:48.381097 MST servicing /tmp/SUNWut/units/IEEE802.00144f7dd1e3/devices/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/Prolific_Technology_Inc.USB_Mass_Storage_Device, lun=0, ctlmin=1, uid=220, xid=16 2008.01.06 10:18:16.242379 MST service END lun=0, ctlmin=1, uid=220, xid=16 /tmp/SUNWut/units/IEEE802.00144f7dd1e3/devices/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED] /[EMAIL PROTECTED]/Prolific_Technology_Inc.,[EMAIL PROTECTED],ctl: No such file or directory /tmp/SUNWut/units/IEEE802.00144f7dd1e3/dev/dsk/disk1: No such file or directory /tmp/SUNWut/units/IEEE802.00144f7dd1e3/dev/dsk/disk1p1: No such file or directory 2008.01.06 10:18:24.806356 MST servicing /tmp/SUNWut/units/IEEE802.00144f7dd1e3/devices/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/Prolific_Technology_Inc.USB_Mass_Storage_Device, lun=0, ctlmin=1, uid=220, xid=16 2008.01.06 10:27:33.172294 MST service END lun=0, ctlmin=1, uid=220, xid=16 I have restarted the USB services, device, and even the server itself, with no improvement. Also, it does not matter which server the DTU connects to, once the USB fails to mount, it does not mount again in that DTU. Do you have any thoughts? Thanks, Marc Wrubleski
