I saw the same with Debian/unstable. I used "strace -ff .." to see also the
child processes. Firefox waits for firefox-bin and firefox-bin is stuck in a
futex()-call. No idea what this means.
But then I tried to eliminate all the differences between SRSS and no-SRSS.
For me, LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libc_ut.so is the culprit.
#unset LD_PRELOAD; firefox
works.
