[update] urls for strace logs are http://warnock.me.uk/strace2.log.gz
and http://warnock.me.uk/strace4.log.gz
Further to my earlier message I have now done the following:
1. Another clear re-install of ubuntu 8.04 and SRSS 4
2. Terminals get to 26D
3. When I press Ctrl+moon to restart a terminal it cause the server
session to close and give the "Ubuntu is running in low graphics mode".
So does running "gdmdynamic -v -r 123". When I choose the "configure"
button on the low graphics dialog and choose 1024x768 it allows me to
login but the font is larger and clunkier than it was before.
Note that in syslog I have
"Jun 23 14:42:13 zaphod utxconfig: Error: could not open file
'/var/opt/SUNWut/displays/123' for reading."
not sure if that was the gdmdynamic -a or -r
4. "pstree -p" still only shows one gdm process
5. All strace has in the log file is:
7586 restart_syscall(<... resuming interrupted call ...> <unfinished ...>
I'll try that again by rebooting the server with the sun ray terminal
powered off. OK done that. strace output is at
http://warnock.me.uk/strace2.log the server gdm
again crashed and went to the low graphics mode dialog.
http://warnock.me.uk/strace4.log is when I ran strace in a plain
terminal window so that it did not get terminated when gdm crashed.
6. I have only put the minimum into gdm.conf (2 paths, 4 directories
[PostLogin etc], DynamicXServers=true, Greeter=/usr/lib/gdm/gdmlogin)
That is all I have so far. Any more hints?
