The data sheet for the SLE4442 says that it requires synchronous
clocking for data transfer. Sun Ray supports only asynchronous
clocking. So the answer is no, the SLE4442 can not be used for
hotdesking.

It is a limitation of the firmware in the DTU.
In other words, when I insert an arbitrary card into a DTU and
I get the "unknown" match in /var/opt/SUNWut/log/auth_log with
an ATR dump, can I assume that the card uses asynchronous clocking?
