We have tried VNC and it works yes. However, with the common screen
modes we are using here (1600x1200) it is by far too slow to be usable
on a daily basis. So we really require that functionality we had with
SRSS 4.0 where we can set 8bit pseudocolor as a default for selected
cards/tokens.
I really hope that someone at Sun can have a look at that and fix it
with the next update. And I really hope that 8bit pseudocolor visual
support will not be dropped in the near future because we have many
applications requiring 8bit visuals, I am afraid.
One of our engineers is looking into this problem. Is anyone
experiencing this on x86, or only on SPARC?
This sounds great. In fact we have also been able to reproduce the
problem with the view Solaris x86 systems we have. Would be great to
receive a quick fix from your colleagues as soon as you have found&fixed
the problem. Because this is currently really the only problem holding
back our full conversion to SRSS 4.1 as we require 8bit pseudocolor as
the default for some cards/tokens.
regards,
jens
