Hi List, I am replying to a thread I have been involved in April. There it was reported/discusses that Xnewst crashes when using Matlab.
As we have updated our SRSS 4.1 latest to the very latest -02 patch I really had the hope that this problem might have been fixed as well. However, our recent tests revealed that Xnewt still crashes when you are moving a window with graphics. In addition, we also noticed that in case you are using IDL and you are displaying a plot in the IDL graphics display Xnewt also crashes. So as the thread points out and as we have verified again Xnewt is still crashing under Linux. Here we do have SRSS 4.1 -02 running on an Ubuntu 9.04 server system and we can reproduce these crashes very good. Is this problem known to any Sun engineer yet and has there been some work on trying to fix it? This is really a very severe problem as our colleagues can't use graphical displays in Matlab or IDL without risking to get their whole sessions killed very time. regards, jens -- Jens Langner Ph: +49-351-2602757 Forschungszentrum Dresden-Rossendorf e.V.
