That's good to know, about the hard-coded business; I went 'round and
'round in circles for days trying to get rid of things that are only
going to confuse or anger our users.  Now I know it wasn't just me being
an idiot.

I had a fair amount of success below the root level menu though;
rearranged some stuff, added and removed some things, and I managed to
get the OpenOffice icon out of the top-level menu after some trial and
error.
