   The reason for using W2K8/R2 is because this is a shop floor environment 
with dozens of affected thin clients so if this solution is to work, it has to 
be a multi-user solution as that's what we're using now [or else we have to 
re-architect the existing one].

That feature would only be available on the console and would require 
that the host had a GPU.

I would test both vRDP and MS-RDP with Win7.  No reason to use W2K8R2 in 
the VM.
