yes, the unsetenv LD_PRELOAD is the solution in my case, but the sound is lost. unfortunately, installing FF4 on Centos 5.4 is not an option now (as it needs more changes)

ver thanks for yur fast reply,

Well, the strace output doesn't match what I'd expect to see, but based
on everything else you say I strongly suspect this is a known Firefox
bug which affects Sun Ray Linux environments

The only workaround for FF 3 at this time is to unset LD_PRELOAD before
running it, but then you don't get audio.

Do things work if you unset LD_PRELOAD?

The FF bug is claimed to have been fixed in FF 4, but I don't know if
anyone has verified this. Is anyone out there running FF 4 on Linux with
Sun Ray at this point? Does audio work?

On Solaris, FireFox has been patched to support $AUDIODEV, so
$LD_PRELOAD is not required and this issue is averted. But that model is
not supported on Linux.

hello,
on my centos 5.2 server, i've just recompiled the modules for usb
devices (utdisk), and rebooted to activate.
But after the reboot, when starting firefox, it hangs without
displaying, the only things i've changed are the modules:
utdisk, utio and utadem
the usb devices are correctly showed now.
The problem occurs with firefox or thunderbird.
I can start firefox on sunray server and display on other machine, it
works
i can start firefox on a remote machine and display on the sunray dtu
and it works.
But starting firefox on the dtu hangs. So i guess it has to do with
the DISPLAY on DTU?
