I think you misunderstood the question as well as the reason why I added
the past posts.

The question was not whether not it was safe to use Apple Drive SetUp. It
was whether or not it was safe to do a low level format of an IDE drive
hooked up to an Tempo card with Apple's Drive SetUp. 

As to why I added the past posts, it was to illustrate the past
contradictory advice on whether or not it was safe to check the low level
format option with IDE drives.

What I'm asking for is some clarification on this matter.
