If you want to unplug your computer for an extended period, I would remove the
PRAM battery so it doesn't drain dead.
You would have to re-enter some settings, etc, but it shouldn't be much of a
bother.
All my stuff is hooked up to a APC BackUPS, so I just shut down and not worry
about it even for extended period.
Not sure if it's a good idea to leave it in sleep mode, although I'm sure plenty
of folks do this.
