I successfully bought and am running a USB to Parallel Port Printer Cable in the Bottom Slot of the Pulsar/S900 system 10.2.4. Too easy. Even easier than and better than 8-9.1.
Using gimp 4.2.5 and the Ghostscript things could not be better in the Print Department. I even have a M....soft Intellimouse in the other USB Port of the XLR8 DuoPort PCI USB card working at the same time as the Printer. The bus issues have certainly changed for the the S900.
