Thanks, Will -
I was looking at the G4 400/Carrier cards.
Can't remember if there were any G4 450/Carrier.
Once the price reaches a certain point on these I am willing to give the
S900 a boost and keep it running a bit longer and venture into X.
Will a faster (then 400/450) ZIF on the Carrier be less troublesome then the
Crescendo 700 and faster cards folks have been reporting on ?
Alan
I would have to say yes. The Sonnet G4 700/800 seem especially trouble prone on the S900/J700 machines. Sonnet blames everyone but their products for why it doesn't run. My XLR8 Carrier card with G3 500 MHz has run for two years as of July with no real issues. I've even clocked it to 550 MHz 55 MHz bus. Ram was the only pain....none of the 70ns RAM chips that came with the machine will work in OSX 10.2 at that speed. Odd thing is OS 9.x and 10.1 ran fine with the older RAM. Will S
