One of the best out there, particularly for archiving, is Eudora, IMHO. It
uses a standard mailbox file format that is platform agnostic and organized
into folders that are easy to maintain. Archived mailboxes on another
hardrive, CD_ROM or even another network can transparently be accessed from
the menu bar and messages moved, duplicated, opened, or deleted entirely at
will. It is highly scriptable, has exelent filtering abilities, and is well
supported, both by the developers and a number of web sources.
