Since my hard drive had previously failed due to overheating, I bought a
quantity of hard drive cooling fans. After installing one, I can definitely
feel the difference in temperature. I recently posted them on the swap
list, but if anybody here is interested, they are available for $10 each
with free shipping in the States. They are easily installed, low profile,
very quiet, and use the same hard drive molex plug.

I really wish I had one of these installed, I'm sure it would have saved my
60 Gig Maxtor drive especially since I like running with the side cover off.
It was a slow unnoticeable death to the drive but I guess that's how we
learn.
