Thanks Alan. I don't think its dust that's causing the problem with the
Yamaha. I have it installed as an internal. The problems I've had with it
began when I had to get a CD out of the burner because it was taking way too
long to process, especially when my old apple 600i can read it just fine. I
used the paperclip in the emergency eject hole while it was spinning. Since
then, it's been ok for burning but not for reading. I am at the point of
just a total upgrade for a burner. I am looking for anyone who had success
with installing a cdrw on the Acard 66 card as well as being able to boot a
system cd if necessary to replace my apple 600i as well. Currently, I switch
between 9.1 and 10.1.5 depending on what needs to be done. Toast is best for
burning in 9.1 with the Yamaha, but in X, it's not that great... I get more
coasters. I use iTunes for extracting audio.
