I'm astonished. I thought I'd heard already heard the worst that Sonnet Tech could offer. I use a Sonnet Tempo66 and two UltraTek66 cards in two, sometimes three S900's. And I have more hard disks connected to them than I am willing to confess to. Over the past year I've mixed and matched the HDDs with the cards and computers with no problems to speak of and certainly no systematic problems involving bus errors. This has been with OS 8.6 to 9.2.2, Western Digital and Maxtor drives. The HDD switching has been done for data transfer, data backup and replacement and testing ATA cards to compare performance. I keep a bootable partition on most of the drives and have booted from all of them many, many times although I do have preferred standard boot volumes. Now, I no longer know which HDD was formatted on which card, but I've been doing this swapping long enough and frequently enough that I have no doubt that if what Sonnet Tech said were true, then I would have encountered it. And I'm told I'm too conservative in my willingness to draw such conclusions. Someone with a more technical background in the hardware can make more definitive deductive statements about why Sonnet Tech's statement smells like an overcrowded stockyard. Now I _know_ I'll go with XLR8 (Daystar) again rather than Sonnet for another processor upgrade. Hey, Neal, your company needs a Tech Dept upgrade.
