I've had the same problems with my C500 which I wanted to upgrade... it 
seems more modern EDO ram doesn't agree with it. I am told that 
www.newsell.de have compatible ram for sale, but they don't take credit 
cards, and a bank transfer to germany is expensive!

All I can say is I've tried 2 well known US suppliers who guarantee 
compatibility, and the chips from both gave me the same problems you 
are getting on both of my C500s.

If you find a reliable source for compatible ram, I am sure there are a 
few lurkers like me on this list that would like to know about it.
