I have a umax 900, sonnet G4/700, maxtor 120gb, A1:usb, B1: matrox
millennium, C1: acard6280m. Is it possible with this system to switch to
osx and which way do I have to go, do I need hardware upgrades and what
are the advantages? Now I have OS9.2.2.

Take a look at this web page:

Well, actually... I am running OS X 10.2 and... I have a S900, with the
Sonnet ATA card, and a Sonnet 450mhz G3. Currently I am running on a
Voodoo III flashed to Mac but I have also run it on a Matrox Millennium
originally salvaged from a Compaq Deskpro and reflashed (I HATE to spend
money!) Mac.
Only provision with a Matrox card in OS X the initial boot-up and the
Single User Mode (bare BSD without GUI) DOES NOT WORK. this means that
you would have trouble booting with Open Apple S to run fsck. But, as
this is a "unsupported" that is not an issue much in that most disk
fixing can be done in 9.2 anyway.
Bottom Line: A Matrox Millennium WILL do OS X.
