I just got my S900 to 9.2.2 about 3 months ago. I've read your problems... I feel your pain.
1st and foremost... your hard disk. How big is it? 2GB? I think it's dead...like bad berrings, it's run out of life. Sorry. I would go ahead and order one. where in canada... I have no clue. I know that OWC is in Woodstock, IL north west of Chicago. Too far to make a day trip from Canada... Maybe Donald can help you off list with a 9GB SCSI drive as well.
maybe macrescue.com could help as a purchasing resource too.
I have a Hack disk to start your system using the floppy drive. The factory CD-Rom drive needs an extension (driver) that is non-apple. I also have 9.1 on disk. combine the 2 and you should be able to start and check that busted drive with "drive setup". (Contact me off list)
now... if the drive is toast you'll need the new HD
2nd - the RAM. When installing the RAM make sure you put it in in matched pairs...ie 64MB in A1 and 64MB in B1... 32mb in A2, 32 in B2... the sizes have to pair up. It likes its RAM neat and in order. If you can load the S900 up with 128MB sticks... nice!
Lets talk 9.2.2 ... remember this "OS 9 Helper" a free download. Get back to 9.1 and install OS 9 Helper... now install 9.2.2. Your S900 will fly on 9.2.
