That is very odd.
But glad it worked out.

I just fresh-installed 9.1 on a new 80gb 7200rpm Seagate ATA/100 drive (in a
7500.)

For those in need of additional storage, I got a "Barracuda ATA V 7200 rpm"
for $79 from OWC.
It comes in an anti-static bag/bubble wrap and a domcumentation page with
jumper settings stapled to the invoice.
Not a bad deal for 80 gb of storage space from a reputable manufaturer.
