Hi Cal,

Something changes between versions 8.x and 9.x in the way Mac OS handles
multi-sync monitors at startup that affects the Twin Turbo card--IIRC, the
Ultimate Rez, too--when connected via the VGA port. Many have found that
using an adapter so that the monitor can be connected to the Mac port cures
this. Using an adapter that forces a particular resolution and scan rate
definitely fixes it, but is more expensive.

HTH,
