HI All, After running around like a headless chicken I am back with a new C600/240; the intention is to build it as a dedicated machine for running emagic Logic Gold 3.x.
This version of Logic has a very modest system requirement: PPC at 120MHz, 16MB available RAM; seems like the C600 should be able to handle it very well, with two pieces of 64MB in the RAM slots. I am planning to use OS8.6, and have installed the latest driver for the original Asante PCI ethernet card, and a 8MB Matrox Millennium II (Mistral) video card in the bottom PCI slot with latest drivers, as a test, on a "mule" hard drive. Also replaced the CD-ROM drive with an Apple one to eliminate the need for using HDT or Intech drivers. Next on the agenda: if everything works well, I would have to put in a more serviceable hard drive than the old IBM IDE 1.2GB which I use as a mule. Would there be any other suggestion for me to make it as good as it can get? No, not internal SCSI RAID yet! All the best, Sam. -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
