If you can get the iMac to chime then the CRT died. There are several
hacks / plans to reuse what's left sans the CRT. I have two Indigo's that
have met that fate and at some point I plan to do the ATX powersupply mods
necessary to make them work outside their case.
If it has a HD15 connector in the back / middle you can hook another CRT
up and see if it still works.
