Thanks for the reply. I hope to this week open up the c500 and get it running again. I have this old PaperPort scanner I was thinking of hooking up to it's SCSI port. If I have any other issues, you know I'll post 'em here. Thanks again for writing!

Sounds like a dead battery to me. After you check the battery, when you boot up, Zap the PRAM. When our Apple monitor died, and we replaced it with a 17" ViewSonic, the video card got confused and was trying to display a resolution that was not compatible with the VS monitor.
