On the J900, the top PCI slot has a small 26 pin, card edge connector, in line with and adjacent to the PCI connector. I'm assuming that it's additional contacts for a video card of some sort. WHAT card???
The extra slot connector is for the E100, Mercury card. That card has UW SCSI and 10/100 ethernet on the same card. I've never traced out the connections, but my theory is that it's basically two PCI cards on one, they both use the common bus connections from the main slot, and the extra connector provides the unique lines that another PCI slot requires.
Umax seems to have hijacked a vestigial aspect of the firmware to make the machine aware of the extra slot. This vestigial slot has something to do with old ethernet support and has the label E100, which is where the Mercury card gets its other name.
Anyway, there are no video cards that make use of the slot extender. The E100/Mercury is the only card.
