Which Sonnet G4 card were you trying? I was never able to get their
Crescendo/PCI G4 700mhz card to work in my J700. About 40-50 hours of
testing forced us to conclude that it was incompatible with the
motherboard.

Did you zap the PRAM first?

I would strip the computer down to the bare, original essentials to
get it working and then start adding things until you find what is
making it flake out.
