is there a way, or is there a plan to be able to monitor the memory usage of a
process and all it's subprocesses using memmon?

varnish - for example - creates a subprocess when starting up and nothing can
be done to omit that (see
http://projects.linpro.no/pipermail/varnish-misc/2009-March/002652.html)

would be great if memmon monitors memory usage of a process and all processes
with it's id as ppid, sum up their memory usage and restarts the parent if
the sum exceeds a certain limit.

is this technically possible?
if yes, is there a reason not to implement memmon that way?

thanks for your answers,
  fRiSi
